Free online dating seems like a bit of a joke, when one thinks about e

Free online dating seems like a bit of a joke, when one thinks about exactly what it means. The fact that it's free should be a given, since the whole date in itself occurs online. This could be akin to chatting, perhaps fully equipped with video interaction but nonetheless it doesn't involve a kiss, you can't touch each other, tickle each other, or whatnot. It's all through the computer. So then can we really call free online dating, dating at all?
I wasn't even aware of the term at all, until I was searching for some free software online and I suppose the word 'free' triggered results for free online dating. Curious, I clicked on the link to see what this could be all about. Of course, apart from all the instantaneous pictures I was able to view of large breasts and hard men, somewhere I found some information on exactly what was entailed in this free online dating. I deduced that the service was paid for by the advertising companies who accosted the web visitors with their ads. This is how the service was free to its users. Of course many web sites use this particular strategy to make certain things free to the public, which isn't all bad in my opinion.
What was stunning about everything that I learned that day, was that there were some 15 million people that visited the site daily. That's a hell of a lot of people, and it subsequently got me thinking about the state of dating today and how disassociated we have become with face to face contact and encounters. Even with things such as dating, we must have help from the worldwide web. I then began to wonder if this was another indication of the fall and transformation of man from a social being to a non-social being, and if this is indeed the case then what can we expect with things even such as intergovernmental communication? How much of this occurs through email, etc? Do world leaders even ever meet each other face to face, or is it mostly by video conference calls? These things must have been addressed already by social science researchers, but I would be interested to see the results. These questions really ate at me for quite a long time, and in fact even disrupted my own studies, which are completely unrelated. I have gotten back on track after 6 months of being knocked wayward by this, however.
